Planex supported the University of Stuttgart's Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design in developing a pneumatic gridshell. The pneumatic gridshell is an air-supported membrane which stands out because of its lightweight construction and its fast assembly and disassembly.

For the institute it was difficult to find a company which was able to weld the special materials used for the gridshell. Finally, Planex was found as a competent partner.
